I personally like the E21 defrost one which is black and lights up with a small green dot in the middle. I think it's euro spec though.

I'm no longer affiliated with Maximillian Importing Company in any way, please address any questions directly to them.  -Thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if the older 3-piece and 2-piece dashboards were long NLA by '84, thus your '74-'76 dash being used in an '84 restoration.

And, yes, run your fogs off the pull switch at the lower left of the instrument cluster and your driving lights from the e21 switch. I believe that '73s (and possibly even some earlier cars) have spare powered leads on the radiator bulkhead -- I'm positive the square taillight cars have them. One lead is powered whenever your low beams are on: you use this for fog lights. The other is powered whenever your high beams are on: you use this for your driving lights. The factory knew what it was doing and planned ahead!

Good luck with your project!

Steve

Great advice and thanks for the info!

Better to make the e21 switch a tad smaller than make the '02s hole bigger.... Something about preserving the original '02 part rather than modifying it. It is coming to a time where I do not like modifying '02s and parts to where they can't easily be returned to stock.

Luckily the switch I got also came with that option! And since the car was originally Belgian, I think that is the way I will go...

fwiw, i was not able to find exactly what i wanted, i ended up making one with a 02 hazard switch, oem 02 fog bezel and green button.

what i wanted is part illumination of the button at night, which i think the real 02 one doesnt.

anyway, i have what i needed, green button with correct screw-on holder and part (dim) illumination at night.

Hello,

Having sourced vintage fogs and driving lights for my 73 Tii, and having a friend fabricate some steel brackets for both, I am now having trouble finding the switch.

I will wire the fogs to the factory foglight switch on my car, but I was going to replace the dummy "blanking" button with a switch. I seem to recall someone else using a switch that was purple? to replace the dummy, and it looked almost exactly the same except for the color.

I can't seem to find the thread, or the place to purchase the switch despite looking for awhile..

Anyone have any info on where I can get the switch? The threads on how to wire the lights have been helpful for advance planning...

Much appreciated.

Seeing this old post today, and wondering if you might still have the dummy fog light button?  I'm looking for one!  Thanks.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
