Tires And Wheel/rims Fitment Guide

Recommended Posts

beach,

I like the Enkei 92 in black.  Not a fan of pulling the hub.  Will be looking to see what you end up running.

Yeah I like them too, but I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. Is pulling the hubs a pain in the arse?

Beach, have you seen what those nankangs cost? They are nearly impossible to get. And since they are the only manufacturer in that size they are going for over $175 each on eBay. Take your current stats and use the will they fit calculator that I posted above. Any try different sizes.

Does anyone have any experience using Tirerack.com's wheel fitting guide for specific cars?  I ask because their site is saying that a wheel that is 15x8 et 25 with a 5.47 backspacing (with 195-55-15) will fit on a 2002 however, from what I am reading in this thread and the stance thread, that should not fit without a spacer and fender work.  What is even more confusing is when I search under a Miata instead of a 2002, it gives options that are 15x7 et35 with 5.35 backspacing (195-50-15).  Is the concern whether or not it hits the fender at that point?

If I am staying stock ride height can I just measure the clearance before I hit the inside lip of the fender and figure it out that way?

I have no experience with Tirerack.com's wheel fitment guide or knowledge of the experience upon which it has been based. But if you choose to follow it, and ignore the experience of the many '02 owners represented on this forum, you should first make certain Tirerack has a full money-back policy in case their guide is wrong (and it will likely be wrong)!

I want to run a 195/55R15 tire in order to keep my speedo correct. My rims are 15x7 4x100 25. Will I be able to use the H&R springs without rubbing or fender rolling? I might go to a 6.5" or 6" wide rim later. But I like the look of 15's. Anybody have any experience with that tire size?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
