Pictures Of Your Blues.....

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

When I picked up my 76 the only stipulation the wife had was that it had to be repainted as she hates the brown.  I've tried to convince her for the past 6 months that its a great color but she's not having it.  So the CFO of the family has narrowed it down to a blue tone, hopefully dark metallic.  Im hoping people can post up pictures of their cars so I can show her some options and if you have the paint code and name that would be even better.  I remember at one point there was a link to all the codes and you could select one to see it on the car but I cant seem to find the link anymore.  I've also tried searching the forum and google but a lot of the older posts have been lost.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Don't remember the color of the top of my head... But this is a factory color on a car I owned for a bit. The second is next to my Malaga car.

post-10-0-12368100-1369962852_thumb.jpgThis is not a "dark" blue - it's BMW's Pastellblau on my wife's '76.  She loves the color and, even though we live in a relatively small city, she gets compliments every single week on her car - sometimes 2 or 3 times a week.

Here are a couple that I have seen recently.  The first is at the 2011 Amelia Island Gooding auction (sorry, couldn't figure out hop to flip it over).  The second is a turbo tribute at the start of the 2012 Damn The Torpedoes unsanctioned, out of control "race" here in Georgia.  I believe it was built by a well known builder in the upper Midwest and was a metallic as I recall.  Don't know the colors on either but pretty sure they are not original.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
