15X7" +27Mm Offset Wheels?

Recommended Posts

hi jessie,

can i ask you how much you lowered your car by?  looks great by the way...

Also with the wheels i want to get 15x 6 et 29 - will this leave enough room to do a brake upgrade?  Not sure how much room i need to allow for this?

Thanks,

emmet

Emmet,

I'm not sure how much lowered my car is. I'm using ST springs with one loop cut in the front and half a loop cut in the rear, and seating on Bilstein Sports.

With the et29, you will need at least 3-5mm wheel spacer in the front to clear the tie rod joint from rubbing the lip of the wheels.

You will probably need the spacers with 15x7 et29 but not on a 15x6 et29. Offsets clearance is different once width changes, FYI.

The problem with the stance thread, and the reason I started this thread, is that I was after information on a specific offset and tire size which was not covered to the extent I desired. I ended up with a +25mm offset 15x7" wheels and 195/55-15 tires. Could I have gone 2mm closer to the tie rod end? Probably. Will this tire fit on a lowered car? Probably not without some minor fender rolling or stretching. There is a picture of my car in the gallery for those interested. My car looked silly at stock ride height on 185/60-13 tires and the speedometer was 7 MPH fast. Now the car looks better and the speedometer is only 2 MPH fast.

What 185/60/13 tires? I am pondering r888s in that size

I just fit up some 15x7 et 26 with Yokohama s drives in 195-50-15. Looks like I may need a small spacer to clear tie rod joint.. ST springs, bilstein hd's.

with et 29 you will have to check clearance on the front strut and the rear wheel wells on the inside of the tire at the back.  you may need spacers. won't know until you mount them.  et25-27 is better.

Concur with the S-drives. I have them and love them in 195-50/15s....great all around tire. I have them on 15x7 +25s and get just a bit of rub at full compression front/rear. Rolling should take care of it.

darn, seriously?

I was reading that the 15 x 6 et 29 would have no issues with the s-drive 195/50 15.  The clearance issues that you have shown will also occur with a 15 x 6?

I was really hoping not to have to do any modifications to make these fit...

Don't worry, I'm 99% sure you wont have any issue with the size you're planning. The dimensions are just perfect with 195/50 tire. If something would come up, it's really minor and easy to fix with some "fine tuning".

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
