Fitting 8J And 9J Wheels On Stock Fenders

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm looking if i can fit 13" wheels with 8J at the front and 9J at the rear to a stock 02, with stock fenders. And because these wheels are wide what kind of ET should i have to run without any problems.

Also what is the correct tire size for 8J and 9J rims?

If you do a search on this forum, you will finds lots of discussion of wider (i.e., non-stock) rim widths, with every diameter rim from 13" to 17". And owners have managed to stuff rims on these cars -- without body work, apart from fender lip rolling -- that would both amaze and horrify the 2002's original engineers. But you're probably asking a bit much with 8" and 9" rims!

With stock fenders the widest you're gonna get with a 13" wheel is 7". What tires are you planning on using? The best street tire size for that fitment will be 205/60r13. And that size is darned near impossible to find in a regular street tire in the US these days; though there are street legal R compound tires available... The Tire Rack has a few choices.

A 205/60-13 will fit on a 6" wheel just fine, and those are much easier to fit under stock '02 fenders....

Thank you, that's what i needed. :)

The rims will be 3-piece. I will make the centers, so i guess i can play a little bit with the ET. So i found second hand inner and outer rings 8" for the front and 9" for the rear, but when the 7" is max i'll have to buy custom rings from HTN felgen.

A 205/60-13 will be ok, i guess, i was looking at some older topics about the brands that still make this size, i know i have a small choice.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
