What's The Best Deal You've Ever Seen For An '02?

Recommended Posts

I've heard of people getting nearly pristine cars for free, but that is very rare.

I bought my 2002 for $2250. 130k miles and with a crap paintjob, leaking and burning oil, and just needing a lot of work, but a solid car nonetheless... aside for the rotted floor pans.

I've been promised a 17k miles 1976 Car for free, but it's sat outside for 30 years so the body is mostly rotted. The interior and engine are still pretty mint though, and considering the non-existant milage, is a pretty sweet deal.

I'm in New York.

I just bought two 2002's ( 73 and 76) for $2k! Drove both of them home! 76 has a rebuilt motor, 5 speed, bilsteins, IE sway bars, etc. 73 is stock with original paint! Also received new e21 recaros and two hoods and trunk lid. I have a lead on a couple more!

When I got the 02 bug last year, I searched across the country. I found this numbers matching 72 Tii 10 miles from my house for $4,000. It had a sunroof, 5 spd and battery relocate. I gave it a tune up, changed the fluids and the intake tubes (plastic ones were cracked).

It's got some rust that will need to be addressed soon but I have been driving it a couple of times a week for almost year with no problems.

I would say the '74 factory Turbo I bought at a Mercer County (NJ) excess property disposal auction back in '94 for $750 was my best 2002 deal

There was an article someplace about your find...Roundel maybe, I remember reading about it years ago. Lucky find!
