Shifter Support Rod Bushing?

Go to solution Solved by M2M3,

Hi guys - I was working on replacing the shifter and linkage in the '02 this weekend and noticed that when I pulled of the support rod (BMW part number 25111201238) the bushing at the bottom was complete disintegrated.  I can't seem to find the a new bushing by itself - does the new rod come with it installed?

Thanks,

Ben K.

i believe AKG motorsports sells a replacement urethane bushing for this location.  it will add some NVH, but.....

Correct.  I have the (2) piece AKG bushings which are 75 durometer polyurethane.  You have to remove the original bushing before installing the AKG ones. (P/N SH02 @ $ 15.00).  www.akgmotorsport.com

Ordered!  Thanks a lot guys!  I'm not worried about removing the old bushing - it fell out!!

The rubber part most likely is the part that fell out.  If using the AKG urethane bushings (two pieces), then you will need to remove the steel bushing insert.  As posted somewhere else here on the FAQ, take a hack saw blade or Dremel tool and cut a notch in the existing metal bushing (similar to removing the rear diff hanger bushings) so you can remove the original steel insert.
