Recommended Posts

Hi I'm looking to purchase motor mounts for my 1973-based model BMW. Could anybody especially all you experts out there lead me in the right direction for the proper mounting.

I see tons of mounts all over the board with tons of prices if anybody has a secure site that I can land myself on an order to purchase these mounts I would really appreciate it thank you Dez

If you're inquiring about sources for motor mounts, then the above suggestions are good ones.  I might add an additional one, Autohaus Arizona.  Good quality parts--usually the same suppliers as BMW uses, and free shipping for orders over $50.

If you're inquiring about what kind of mount, be advised that urethane mounts are much stiffer than the OEM rubber ones.  M10 motors rock on their mounts a lot, and that motion/vibration will be transmitted to the car's body much more readily with urethane mounts.  They also put more of a load on the motor mount brackets--and the left side one--near the steering box--is notorious for stress cracking with age.  Your '73 has the reinforced right side mount, so you shouldn't have to worry about that one (early cars used a much simpler, very stress crack-prone mount).

Unless you're going racing, I'd stick with OEM style rubber mounts.
