This is really great steve, thanks for all your hard work. I'm excited to get to know the new format!

First question that comes to mind...what makes a thread 'HOT'?

Although the question is for Steve, I can help you with that...

When a question is marked 'HOT', it simply means the post has been getting rapid responses, likes & other such activities. For example this specific post is marked 'HOT', because it's been extremely active with lots of different replies in short amount of time.

Hope I answered your question! ;)

Thats what I figured...i was wondering what the threshold for hot or not would be. Probably doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Interesting new software stuff!

The site looks fantastic! However, when searching from Google or using saved bookmarks I get an error page. :

For example:

That is correct, old links do not work. It will take google and other search engines a while to reindex the site.

Thanks for the reply on the "countdown".

I have another Q related to archived articles. Your header (below) states "from inception to the upgrade in OCT 2005", what happened to posts/articles between 2005 and this upgrade? topic search reuslts are suspect, although I am trying to figure out the best approach.

The site was started in 2002. The first software change was done in 2005. We could not have a clean transition so all of the posts from those 4 years were added to "Archive" forum and locked. All posts after that are everywhere else. So 2005 to now for General 2002 stuff is in '02 General forum.

This migration was a lot cleaner and it looks like i will be able to move all "Archive" stuff to general forum.

Thanks Steve, this is still great stuff. I just need to understand allowable search characters and learn how to better use key words. Well done.

Steve, I noticed that I reached a "like" limit on posts. I wasn't counting how many posts/comments I liked, but it was only about 6-10 posts (I'm guessing). So I was wondering what the limit was, and if you'd be able to raise it or remove it..because I honestly don't see any reason for it. Otherwise, great job!

Will be awaiting your reply... :)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
