Think my distributor gave up the ghost tonight

Driving home and the car stalled on me, was able to coast home but would not fire.

Checked carb, getting gas.

Took off the distributor cap and the rotor has about an inch of play in either direction. The squeaking sound it's making when I turn the rotor is also new.....

Sound familiar?

Thanks.

if the distributor is squeaking then it has not been

lubed in a while. search that, also the squeak can come

from the points rub block disintegrating. if the motor

just stopped you my have to reset the points or

replace them. also search points lube. please

report back.
