NK Armrest Mount

The later style upper armrest mounts are NLA but a e9 coupe mount will work. It is about 1/2" wider than original but it is referenced in RealOEM as the official replacement. I think an e12 mount will also work as it is the correct size and width but the chrome cap is smaller and will look a little bit off.

Chris,

Some of the E-9, E-3, and E-12 upper armrest chrome caps will work for the '69 2000, I'm not sure which years for those though. A while ago when I had my '69 2000 I ordered a pair of those caps from Wallothnesch, the newer

ones they sent me were off by just a bit, used a dremel to more/less get the

correct fit.

The e9 chrome cap is too big, e12 too small. I was afraid dremelling would leave a ragged edge so I replaced the support as well.

I first called Carl, at La Jolla Independent and asked him if he had any NK

front armrest caps. He thought originally he had a box of assorted NK trim pieces but after calling him back a few days later he said no-go. So I had ordered some brake pads/rotors/ rubber lines for my 1969 2000 as Wallothnesch was advertising a brake parts sale and then asked them to toss

in a pair of the armrest caps; the 'repro' ones sent were very close, fit wise

but still off a bit. It's interesting, the part# for those caps coincides with those for certain E-3, E-9 and E-12

BMW superseded the old original parts with the e9 part even though it is larger but at least it is available. The e12 chrome cover is too small to fit NK or e9 though unless you use the e12 support as well.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
