just to let everyone know the outcome and thanks to all again

when i came home tonight steve was grinning like a cheshire cat...he said he had a slight scare but quickly got over it...he drove the car around town today maybe 60-70 miles and said it did great until his last stop at lowe's

when he came out and turned the key there was absolutely nothing, like no battery but he pushed it and started the car...he said it was running like crap like 3 plug wires were off and no power

limp'd 25 miles home tried to start it again and nothing...dead battery, charged the battery, turned the key and it fired up and ran great...he installed a hot spark and said he believes the old dizzy was bad from the start because the car has never done so well...he said it pulls harder than ever and on the roads he has to drive on, it never top'd out on pulling power

he's thrilled, said it's like getting a hot rod engine in the car...

as a side note, he hates the loud sound of the ireland stainless exhaust and is going to take it to a muffler shop to have a quiet muffler installed

if anyone's interested in the stainless exhaust email me and i'll let you know when it gets pulled off...i don't know how much of it he'll remove or what price he may want but it'll be a good buy for someone

Heres my tip on dizzy R & R, set engine to TDC, like you did with head cover off, now notice where the rotor is pointing, that direction shows tdc from the dizzy perspective, it wont change and keeps you from removing the head cover when installing a diz, if its not right, off one tooth it wont be close, a lot easier than removing head cover every time. Works for me, like a snake charmer in August

Esty, I sent a general e-mail through the board. Wanted to check in to see if this distributor made its way poolside or not. Still interested as a rainy day project.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
