mismatched bumper pieces!

it don't look right

i don't feel good about the right rear fender and right door

surfaces - looks like a LOT OF FILLER and big issue

hiding under all the paint - and ALL THAT PAINT

covering the rest of the car

makes me very afraid

LOVE THE SEAT FABRIC ! but they need parts and

rebuilding

the dash board is a crime scene

and come-on! - spend a little to get the alignment

done and a few bucks for a new BMW radiator cap

before the center of that one falls out

door seals are TOAST

injection cold start hard switched ? gas filter in trunk?

gas filter missing in front of batt.?

i want to see the trunk without the carpet covering

the sides, and 20 less photos of the outside

body and just a few more photos underneath the car

i'm not feelin the love back here :

i would buy this car just for the steering

wheel and the seats :

Buy It Now $6,385.oo (and thats risky not seing

bottom of the car and not being able to measure

the paint/filler thickness)

AND CLASS - WE DO NOT SEE VIN NUMBER PLATES,

WE DO NOT KNOW THE VIN NUMBER

I'm gonna guess 14 or 15X6 with 45 series tires. If they are 15 X 7's, they sure fit nicely. Maybe 16's, but I would be shocked.

Which wheels are they?

mismatched bumper pieces!

it don't look right

Considering the bid level thus far.. We have to roast this one.

Bumpers:

-Bolts through the bump strip and no seam covers on the back.

-Deleted overriders out front.

("Easily" remedied, but still..that's a lame excuse for a 'euro' conversion.)

Lick and stick trim is wavy as L.

Extra holes in the rear right.

Holes in the Rear trim.

Overly stretched, late model door panels.

No slats on the grills.

Wiper arms on the wrong sides.

Wrapped dash cover coming unglued (already).

Ef'd up knob set on the cluster.

Bent up Heater control face.

Missing heater control tips.

Missing Recaro bits.

Spare tire well is wonky.

Late model spare.

'Custom' exhaust.

Axle boot on the inner left is very broken.

Spray paint rebuild on the suspension.

Various areas of overspray.

WOW. And this is what we can see, just while Windows shopping..

BMW Steel

Michelin 165 x 13" XAS

DSCN3094_zps2177d375.jpg

And unless that XAs is a $300 re-issue from the Michelin Passion division of Michelin -- available in the U.S. through Coker tire -- it's a probably a 30 year-old tire. Throw it out.

And is that factory or Autozone beltline trim?

Both front fenders have too large a gap between the fenders and the doors. And if you look at the right rear 3/4 views of the car, you can see how badly the passenger side door and front fender fit. I believe this goes to c.d.'s concerns about the bondo on that side and suggests serious body damage, poorly repaired.

But, 3 tii's currently on eBay -- all currently above $12K and all having serious condition/background issues -- suggest that tii prices may be at a crossroads (where they REALLY break free from non-tii prices), with buyers lining up and throwing money at ANY tii that "looks shiney"! It's a bit analogous, in my opinion, to what has occurred with '55-'65 Alfa Giuliettas and Giulias: the hot Veloce models, in any condition, seem to sell for twice the standard Normale models. The driving and performance experience of the Veloce is better than that of the Normale by degrees, yet collectors will pay twice as much for the higher performance, and rarer, model.

Hey guys, thank you for the responses. Funny thing, I wanted to know the info on the rims and tires and look what it turned in to!! Wish I had the knowledge that members on this board have. Guess it is a learning curve.

I recently bought a TII. Here is a link to some pix and the documentation that came with it. The only thing it does not have is a sun roof!!

Feel free to rip it apart! I am into originality.

Enjoy.

the trunk was sprayed without stripping and cleaning... guaranteed rust hiding under that paint.

If they cut corners there, they cut other corners too.

Trust me, I am dealing with a car that was painted to hide lots of stuff....

Yeah, if so much is noticable in pics you can bet the up close and personal inspection "won't be pretty"! Eye catching nonetheless.....just a shame it's not more original and better cared for for a very early tii!

Well, you're welcome to your opinion, but that doesn't mean knowledgeable 2002 enthusiasts should not and can not comment on what they see presented here. I think that is the basic purpose of the forum, yes?

As for the spare tire well, it appears there is a bead of weld around the bottom, meaning that the entire bottom of the well has been replaced, which is why there is no spare tire hold-down.

I'm no purist. My breakdown of the visible issues is merely a commentary on the dangers of uneducated purchases via the internets. If you can't see what we were referring to and at least somewhat agree, you're an idiot. MAYBE you are the seller, or you're someone who sells with a similar MO.

I can only hope that the buyer was an investor speculating on the future value of an early Tii, AFTER he sinks another 10k in the car to get it where it needs to be. Otherwise, someone just pissed away some real casheesh on a poorly rehabilitated roundie.

brand enthusiast nitpicking should not be confused with 'problems'.

i mean really, you purists are disgusting.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
