Turkis or not?

Considering restoring a '73 non-tii. Original color -- Turkis. Current color -- a non-BMW color. Will definitely bring it back to an original, period-correct color. I understand there is some value to restoring to original color, but this is a resto for me, not one I'll be looking to flip. I'm struggling with Turkis because I can't decide whether it looks too "pretty." Will doing it in Turkis cost me a Man Card? Will NOT doing it in Turkis be a huge missed opportunity? I know the decision is largely one of personal preference, but I'd appreciate the input of this esteemed group.

Some things do get easier with age: when I was 21, I wouldn't have been caught dead driving a Mintgrun or Pastellblau 02 -- Golf and Taiga never appeared in the Northeast back in the day -- while Inka was always cool. Today? Bring it on! I'll take one of each!

A friend/ customer of mine bought a repainted 3.0 CS original colour Ceylon , I pleaded with him to repaint it the original/rare colour, he went with the new BMW burnt orange ! his car his choice but I know where I would be, original ! Turkis is a great colour, when I first saw it I could not believe it was an original colour, BMW were pioneers in colours back when our little cars were built .

Turkis is such a 70's color...

Manly is not the question... the only one you need to prove you are a man to is your boyfriend...kidding~

I am going Turkis, I just think the color looks so good with the lines.

Forgive the dent, it is repaired but has not been repainted.

It almost color shifts with the time of the day... sometimes more blue, some times more green.

Go original!! (except for me.. mine was malaga:)

Go with the original color. In the end you'll be happy you did. I'll bet you fall in love with the color seeing it freshly painted. No, you won't loose your man card.....

Agreed.

Remember you are asking a group of people who drive cars that are all shades of colors from the 60's and 70's...Mine being Colorado (light orange).

In perspective if you had an original Lime Green Challenger from the IROC series of the day, you think your card would be challenged...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
