Door sill plates and gasket

Dicks

Recommended Posts

I give up.... I have been through Penske Parts and Max's listings and I can not identify the part numbers for the plastic sill plate and gasket between the carpet and the door.

I'm not sure, but I think that the width of the sill plate changes somewhere along the line too.

Can anyone point me in the proper direction or furnish a number?

Thanx

The parts catalog will tell you the year of the change over between the narrow and wide one.

My guess is 72 and earlier had the narrow ones. But that is a guess. I know the 72s had the narrow.

51 72 6 440 148 and 9 for a 72

51 72 6 440 147 and 8 for a 73 and 74

If you are not into originality for 1972, the later one protects the painted sill better.

What you call a gasket and what you call the plastic thing is all one part.

I posted the part numbers above. From REALOEM, both the narrow and wide seem available.

Take the part numbers I posted, copy them and paste them into REAL OEM "Search Part Number" section.

Or go to group 51 then to 51/15 at the bottom of the lists (moldings)

  • 1 year later...

I know this is an old thread, just wanting to correct it for those (like myself) that are searching for numbers:

51 47 1 808 680     71-73 Narrow (currently) NLA

51 47 1 822 070     73-76 Wide - currently available

the numbers above appear to be the gaskets for the stainless rocker trim

Someone with parts books, can you answer the question of the date and/or the VIN of where the change from narrow to wide door sill covers occurred? I'm looking at photos of a variety of cars, and if they have the original sills, the change does appear to have occurred sometime in 1973.

Parts cannot be found in the 51 section of the parts catalogue but in the 41 section, picture pages 25a and 25b. 51 72 6 440 147/8/9 Bill has mentioned above are not for the thresholds but for the lower outer chrome trim on the rockers/sills.

Best regards, Lars.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
