Possibility that something fell into the NAPA filter prior to installation and got inside the engine??

The packages most oil filters come in are not sealed tight and dirt from the environment could easily get inside the filter while in storage...a bug could crawl in there even. I always blow my filters out with compressed air prior to using them.

Ive run NAPA filters on pretty much all my rigs cause it's basically a WIX filter. Never had a problem....

it's not basically a Wix filter, it IS a Wix filter...

Unless the oil contaminants are being tracked by sampling and testing (not by your fingers, eyes, or mouth), there will not be any indication of a "problem" with any single filter element failure. Oil related problems occur over a long period of engine life. The way these engines are tormented, it's would be a long day to find the real blame to be the filter. Yes the "can" or the "seal support" can fail and then for sure it's a weak filter part. I witnessed high pressure testing and some brands hold a much higher pressure (don't ask, I won't tell). I have also helped a lady that had a gasket blow and dumped the oil on a VW diesel.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
