replaced IE resonators with Glasspack not too impressed-HELP

Hello 02ers,

So after going back and forth to the exhaust shop many times to work on the leaky (old style twin IE resonators), the shop owner convinced me to save the trips and just replace them with a short Glasspack. I gotta tell you right off the bat, the car felt kind of different. 1) it felt that its not breathing better and quieter 2) not as feisty and butt dyno feels different.

I am hoping that those who did the same can chime in. I think I already have a small rattle inside the glasspack after an hour of driving!

I am thinking about getting the new IE center section and I would like to hear from those who have it installed. I also am not sure if IE can give me some sort of a discount since the old one was just not up to par with their products which I have on my car already.

Opinions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

What make are they-not all are made the same.Cherry Bomb and Thrush have been around a long time.only Thrush have a powder coated case. The Abarth center resonator on mine is nothing but a glorified Glass pac. But!!!! It is almost 36 " long it takes a long one to come even close to smoothing that whale of an exhaust note comming out of that motor. If you have a little stubby one - not near enough.Walker makes a much quieter round - turbo style.Spend some more and get the Magaflow 24" x 6" stainless and stainless stuffing- I have them on my JK Unlimited. I did the things yesterday no one wanted to -

So I could do the things today no one else can afford.

I'm also interested in feedback in various options.

I'd like a side exit style ( stock for 1974) sport exhaust option, that holds together for the long run, and bolts on without welding. I'd also like to add a flex pipe somehow, as I don't trust that a rigid exhaust will hold together in long run.

I can find ANSA sport center pipes easily, but the only side exit muffler I can find is regular non-sport ANSA.

IE offers the side exit pipes, but you can't buy the muffler alone, and I don't know if I should trust adding their entire setup.

It'd be nice to just buy the entire IE exhaust of the new style and bolt it on, and be done with it... but I doubt that's gonna happen from what I've read. Maybe I could just cut off the front of IE's center pipe and slip on a flex pipe, and it'll hold together.

I currently have a cobbled together stock exhaust with flex pipe between center resonator and header, and it's not exactly confidence inspiring.

I run the Manaflow 18inch resonator with a Magnaflow rear muffler. Nice sound and no rattle issues. It's been installed since 2004.

The new center may not compatible with the old system's rear pipe... Working in reverse, I have a new rear piece (center exit) that I traded for (to replace my splitting rear muffler) and the new one is WAY off. I'm not sure why or how, but its not even close to mating with the pipe that crosses over the subframe. the forward end of the pipe points to the diff when the muffler is comfortably on the hangers. I'm really not sure WTF the deal is, or how it would fit even with the complete system.

I have a Magnaflow glass pack as a resonator and 6" round Magnaflow muffler. Go custom. Maybe more expensive but you can pick your components, and it will fit.

I contacted Jeff from IE and they don't sell separate pieces of the exhaust system so scratch off the idea of new center, besides eurotrash is saying that it wouldn't fit the old setup anyways. I honestly was happy with the tone and the car indeed felt that its breathing better, but darn that thing was welded so many times its crazy.

Thanks for everyone's input. I will have to do some more homework apparently.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
