After waiting 3 monthes....

The flares are off the car right now and will be riveted on.

I will be experimenting for both with and without the flares for fitment and everything for wheels and tires. I'd personally rather cut once than cut and then re-weld if necessary.

It may cost more work in the long run but I will be running stock set (ones on car) for a while.

I'm pretty sure if I go 15X8's roughly et25 I will need to cut them or at least roll them. That's where the experimenting comes in.

The body shop owner is willing to refill/ spray/ cut/ anything needed at no charge. So for both of us to be happy I will not cut now.

Any suggestions if 15x8s will be good or not? or 15x7s

KEEP IN MIND IM 22.... NOT AN EXCUSE BUT THIS IS A WHOLE NEW THING FOR ME =)

I write this to make this as simple as possible to help you to make decisions :)

15x8 wont work (in the respect that you'll want to actually drive the car) on the front with stock guards, a light roll or a roll and a pull.

15x8 on the rear is pushing the limits of stock guards but is achievable with the right tyre choice (195/45 is a good choice) and a roll / pull

This leaves you with a choice - do you run a 15x7 / 15x8 staggered setup OR do you run flares and go 15x8 all round.

If you like the look of flares, run them as 15x8 will fill them out. If you don't like the look of flares, run a staggered setup. Theres plenty of info in the Stance Thread on RayC911's car who has run a number of setups, and i've seen a few 8.5", 8" and 7.5" rears too without flares. What I suggest doing, is finding some wheels you absolutely love, and making them work for you by changing barrels and lips - There are so many possibilities which is half the fun of it! Once you have the wheels you like, you can put the body shop to work on your car and they can make them fit perfectly (flares or not)

I'm sure you'll be upgrading your suspension with wheels like that, so keep in mind, a coilover collar may mean you'll need to run a small spacer too (I did) so the wheel doesn't hit it.

All the best,

Tom

Thank you for your help guys and I will probably need more help when the time comes around for when wheels and tires come into the equation. I have read the "stance" thread and it was already a HUGE help for me.

I pretty much want to find a happy medium for semi track days and semi street. At least I know I can comfortably fit 15X7s which is good. We will see what happens.

I will be running stage 2 IE suspension, Bilstein Sports all around. I have seen at least one or two on that thread and they looked great.

But I should get my car back together before I start being picky about wheels.

No engine + no trans. = NO GO!!! =)

I guess it is very hard to see but the holes for the flares and front lip are already there ='(. They have already been fitted and look great ( at least to me). I will upload the pics when I have them installed and get it in the right light. I hope seeing it with the flares make it a "pass" for you guys and your awesome rides!!

And that car is too nice to take to a track day jgerock!!! :)

c.d.iesel- The color is supposed to be Space Gray Metallic. Its for the newer BMWs. I have it on my 2011 135i and fell in love with it. So I was going for twins since supposedly the 1-series is the new version of the 2002 (even though i feel th 02 can never come back, since its hard to make better).

The reason I say "supposed" is because i have yet to have them side by side and it looks a little darker to me, but either way its nice.

Here are more pics to hopefully clear everything up for what i have done

In that case, Flares and wider wheels it is! Definitely more wheel choices. And as long as it's a "pass" for you, that's all that matters. Stock fenders is just my personal preference.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
