1974 BMW 2002 complete running motor + trans (charleston,SC)

Recommended Posts

I have a complete motor and trans from a 1974 BMW 2002. The motor runs like a champ. I have yet to try to the transmission yet (the transmission has no fluid so i didn't want to try to move the car like that. I'm asking 700 obo for both and will include the driveshaft for free. I will also have pretty much any other part you want later down the road. The diff and rear axels will be for sale as well but I cannot part with the yet because I still need to be able to roll it. I'm going to be putting a 302 in it so if you want anything in particular let me know. I'm gonna pull the stock gauge cluster and most interior bits. Im prefering to keep the back seats, dash, etc, but small things will not be needed. I am also keeping exterior things (turn signals, lights, mirrors, etc.) regardless make an offer and most of the interior bits will be yours. I'd prefer not to ship ( at least at this time so for now LOCAL pickup only.)

Herb,

I'm over in North Georgia and might be interest in the engine. My trans was recently rebuilt, so would you consider selling the engine alone? How many miles on it? Any mods like carb, headers, etc?

I would definitely consider selling the engine alone. The motor is 100% stock. it has 98,xxx miles according to the odometer. Honestly make and offer and I'll see what the other guys on here are wanting to pay and we can go from there. I'll even go lower if you want to pull the motor yourself.

Interior is full black and in pretty good condition. driver seat has a tear in it but the car also sat for 23 years in a trailer with the driver side window open. Luckily the only real issues besides that is the fact that it's covered in 23 years worth of dust.

I'm located in Goose Creek on the Naval base. my cell number is 8o4.895. 4l6l. Feel free to shoot me a call or text and I'd be glad to show off the car. It fires up but does not drive(brakes are locked up on rear passenger side.) so you'd have to come to where I keep it.

Here's a photo as well:jxyUxY5.jpg

Oh Herb, I think I talked to you at cars and coffee a month or so ago. I have the green 74tii. I remember you telling me the story about getting the car. I'm glad to see and hear everything is coming together for you.

My car is actually in the body shop right now for some small repairs as well as turbo flares and some trim work. Bilstien HDs, H&R Springs, 15x8 CCWs, some exhaust work, and several coats of white plasti-dip are all slated to go on over the next couple of weeks

@Boseman too - We should all try to get together sometime, I've been gradually finding and hearing about more and more 2002s in the area.

Give me a Call or Text sometime, 843-906-6915

I'm actually considering selling the whole car now. I'm looking to get about 5k for it with it running and all the stuff i have for it. if any of you guys are interested. if i can't sell it in a couple weeks i'll go ahead and move forward with keeping it but i just found out i may be going to washington state in 1-2 months so i honestly won't have time for such a project :/

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
