Today's BaT daily mail features a nice 74 Alfa Romeo for sale. The owner's huge Flickr album contains nice pictures along with some others taken during local events.

This very nice 2002 (Colorado?) was in the album (Anti-football run 2013). Anyone here own it?

Photos that are shot late afternoon tend to be significantly warmer in hue, if that helps.

Although, looking at the other pics in that album, it seems to me those are images captured in the morning. Morning light against this color...

...could end up looking similar as the photo in question. Color and light is always interpreted by the human brain interestingly when in different context. There are numerous optical illusions that illustrate this phenomenon:

Believe it or not, the center brown cube on the top is the exact same color as the yellow cube in the center, on the shadow side.

Pretty sure this is my old 1971 that fell victim to a garbage truck a few years ago (you may remember the "Garbage Truck Won" posts). Insurance settled up, and I decided to keep the money and sell the car as is. It was purchased by a nice guy in Sausalito. I do remember his concern about the Colorado pinking up a bit in the respray. Here are a few pre-fix shots...

OK- the color was not really the question I had - agree that Colorado is a difficult color to mix correctly since it seems to create lots of questions here.

Car looks really sharp. Wonder who the owner is. Would assume he is driving the car in that picture.

I think the car would look "correct" during the afternoon. The Kelvin thermodynamic temperature scale during the morning is typically a bit blue-ish.

Regardless, it's a nice finish. Very clean and purty.

Yup, that's Chedder, Paul's old car alright. We recently rebuilt the suspension with all new bushings, H&R springs, and Bilstein Sports... Nick is a very nice guy and loves his car! That was taken at the Anti Football Run on New Year's Day in Sausalito. I was there with my E28 518i as well.

Hi folks! Tom was nice enough to point this out to me on my latest visit to Casey Motorsports. And thanks Paul for making the connection as well (by the way, it's been too long – we should get together and talk 02).

Cheddar is supposed to be Colorado. The paint was mis-mixed and applied before I could say, "wait! that doesn't look right!"

I've grown to really like to color: he is a creamy Colorado. I love this car to bits ... and, with the recent upgrades by Sean and Tom, it's a sweet driver. [/url]

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
