Recommended Posts

The owner was pleasant when we spoke. But runs a Euro auto repair shop and felt that the car is difficult to find and rare.

Plus the AC works..

The add initially stated the car was $3500 in the actual add itself, $5k on the header list on CL. I asked the price and he went to was the $5k

Here is his web site. He says its a car he drives daily, But it appears he is a car dealer. IE buy and Flip.

If someone offers him $1,500, he should grab it and run like hell!

I would go $1500 but that's about it.. I bet he paid less that that for it and is trying to make a profit.

Right. And any dealer that paid more than $1,500 for that wouldn't be dealing for long!

I can't say I know of any good $1,500 cars in our area. On the other hand, there is a '73 tii near Nashville on eBay currently. The seller is looking for a $2,750 minimum bid and getting absolutely nothing (no surprise). It's quite a big project but it is a round taillight tii with sunroof. It also appears to be a Fjord car with navy blue interior: a classic and good combination. The rear shock towers look good; I can't tell what the floors and front frame members look like. It even has a set of Campagnolo rims on it (worth some bucks to me if they're 5 1/2", worth even more bucks to someone else if they're 6"). If the rust isn't too bad, this would be the kind of 02 worth investing some time and money into. But $2,750 is really too high in my opinion. This might make sense to someone adventurous between $1,000 and $1,500.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
