I wonder how many "made in Germany" parts

Are really made in Germany. Unless it is NOS parts it is most likely manufactured in Asia hence the poor long term wear many of us are experiencing. I think about this because of the post about a bad clutch master...I also had 2 go bad after a year. Hopefully I have a good one now.

If any of you wear a nice watch that says "Swiss made" maybe you paid 2000-6000 bucks for it (going rate for tier 3 watches). Guess what. It was most likely made in Asia, The big name watch makers buy ETA raw movements from Asia. Then add their pieces, name branding etc, case it and sell for mega bucks.

I bet these new "Made in Germany" parts are doing the same thing. Make it Asia, tighten the screws in Germany and call it "Made in Germany"

I'm not as dumb as I look

As I posted the other day, the supposedly "Made in Germany" Osram light bulbs had stamped in the base metal "Made in China".

But we no longer see, as we did for many years after World War II, "Made in Occupied Japan". But, I date myself.

Just purchased some relays from Hella. Paid about double what I would have paid for a no name brand, made in China.

Guess what is says on the (Hella) parts, "Made in China". Give it a little time and you'll probably see "made in China" on all OEM BMW parts. This was the last time I paid extra for Hella parts.

No amount of skill or education will ever replace dumb luck

I hear ya....get this. The factory in Asia that makes these ETA movements that are in these high dollar watches...guess who owns it...Fossil does.

In fact You can buy a Fossil watch for under 300 bucks and it has the same ETA movement as that 4000 watch at the Jewelry store in the mall

Damn shame is all I have to say about it.

Hella, Bosch..etc no different.

I personally love it when the box says 'Germany'

and the part in the packaging on the inside says 'Turkey'

or something else.

Current, Bosch oil filters are made in usa, and seem to be internally

identical to Wix.

I should avail myself of this global economy and move to Monte Carlo...

right.

Bloody hell dont get me started ......on the 26 Jan we have Australia Day .....and where are most of the flags made ....FU##ING CHINA ...my mission every year to find and buy an Australian Made flag From an Australian owned shop .....and it just gets harder and harder every year.

Why is the econony going down hill....hard guess isnt it ...der.......whose economy is thriving .......yep China.

I really try hard to buy products made in Australia, America,England , Germany ect rather than China, just to keep a bit in their economy .Where there is a choice between a cheaper Chinese product and locally made (more cost)item I always go local .Our industry is getting killed by China and its getting harder and harder to not buy it .

My rant finished .......

Yeah but when most people walk into a 'big box' store and see the piles of crap that they never knew they wanted, they forget all that and fill their boots with 'globalisation'. Most of it is land fill before theyear is out.

Still, that is capitalism, if you don't agree with it you are some kind of commie pinko

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
