I wanted to reintroduce myself, Hi Im Shawn aka (Flank4) I was on here about 5 years ago when I got my 76 2002. I dont remember the name I was under but I didn't say much at the time. Well five years later im back and my 02 has been in the same spot. I went and took some photos for you guys to see what I have to work with. for now Im planing on sanding down the rest and sealing it. then plasidiping my car flat white till i can afford a real paint job.

One other thing it is a 76 so a smog check is going to suck. But I think I might have all the smog parts on the car right now. ON TO THE PHOTOS!

Welcome Back!

you are in over yer head

needs $1,000's of parts, labor, and prayer

a list of obvious things needed:

-cooling system (yours is missing + all hoses)

-fuel system (pump, hoses, carb rebuild, tank inspected)

-ignition system (all wires and connectors)

-remove bogus alarm system

-body electrical system (relays,wiring, connections)

-Emission Control System (nothing is working - parts very hard to find)

-Body Is Loaded With Rust

-1/2 of airconditioning is missing (remove the rest that is present,

do your car a favor)

-Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Drive Line, remove front strut

height spacers - it's all about the STANCE don't you know?

-Nothing in the interior is safe without wearing HAZMAT clothing

-should be a nice long term project for someone with

no budget restriction - or sell for parts

-it needs A LOT

we're all here to help

Save'um, Don't Crush Them.

I read a suggestion recently that advised to register the car via a friend's or relative's address in a less strict smog-zone.

Basically, someplace in rural CA.

Not sure if you know anyone that can do that, but on a '76 that would be a good option if available.

LOOK AT THE ROUND ' snorkle ' next to the right side of the radiator

that's air intake fitting for the original air cleaner - the air intake

for the intake-heating warming device to prevent carburetor

icing.

this is a 1976 with all the emission control krap removed

car is really happy without it.

That's a clean looking bay, and thank you for the snorkel info. A small update for you guys. I'm going to be selling my 67 mustang to help fund the bmw.

67 mustang convertible

Info on the mustang sale? I'm in the SF Bay and have a couple mustangs and a couple 2002's. Might be looking for another....

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
