Guest Anonymous
All the diagrams I've seen show one, but the engine ('76) didn't have one. I'm pretty sure no one had gone into it before me, and there's no 0-ring. What size is this little beastie? I'll probably have to go to the industrial bearing shop for a replacement, given that I have one dealer within 3,000 miles and they recognize only newer cars. Guest Anonymous
do a search and find the post that someone found in the BMW manual says to omit this oring on reassembly, just did it myself and I had no oring to start with so I put it back together without one, there really isn't a reason for one to be there anyway. Guest Anonymous
I can see a need for it, however small. The front seal rides between the lower timing cover and the OD of the pulley hub; but the o-ring is supposed to seal the (very) small gap between the crank snout and the ID of the pulley hub. Whether it's useful may be another matter, but I'll look for the previous post.
