the ABARTH reminds me of my GRAY 2002 - which is to

say my o2 was a tight running machine. Not nearly as

strong pulling as the ABARTH. Actually a little heavier,

and with a true 101 + HP, and the tight H&R/BilsteinSport

suspension, my 02 felt like a worn, new ABARTH.

Now the ABARTH has no torque steer, changes direction

if you just think about it, has killer brakes, fenom handling,

loaded with digital technology, excellent build quality.

What's not to like? it fits inside my garage a bit shorter

than the big bumper '76

this now sleeps in Maus Haus crib

sorry don't know Bill - only going by what I have access to

with part numbers and availability - maybe some one can

test the waters and actually order one and share with the class.

I posted this in our tii group buy thread:

The BMW parts are a great solution for someone who just wants to replace one of the #2-#4 lines. #1 is black, so that's not really an option. Fact is BMW cannot supply a matching set.

In addition, our manufacturer in Germany bought the #2-#4 lines from BMW, and found that the shape is not even close to the original that Rob Torres provided. See his post on 12/29/12.

So, in addition to what BMW still sells, we are now able to get a complete matching set that is as close as possible to what came on our tii's 40 years ago. Probably even better due to advances in materials, and Thomas' excellent craftsmanship. It will be a piece of art !

C.D. I just recently bought the Tii injection pump belt at the local BMW dealer here and paid over $50 for one.

$21.38 US is suggested List price for the belt as of yesterday

a dealer can mark it up as they see fit

a bmwcca membership would help for parts discount next time-

most dealers offer the club discount anywhere from

10% up to 15%

That's the problem.

BTW, yes I purchase some parts from dealers as I get to know quiet a few BMW dealers.

Rogerstii is a good source too. He is in the SF Bay Area, has a website, and sells on Ebay. Met him at the Monterey Legends show last year, and just bought a tii injection belt from him for $20.95

I'm late to this discussion, but I have to ask....has anyone contacted BMW Classic to get to the bottom of just what the heck is going on with the black #1 line & why it costs double?

There has to be a reason for this....may be a dumb reason, but there has to be a reason!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
