I was reading the comments today on the new Roundel and clicked on Paul's blog. I have been looking for info about the F Bomb, and I found it. I love that story, and decided to share it with my Baurspotting audience..... which, btw, extends to over 110 countries at last count, about a year ago. This is a GREAT story!

Kudos to Paul, and I look forward to meeting you one of these days!

You're too kind. And quite frankly, you're making me blush.

I'm just another dirtbag that likes old German cars.

Many thanks, Tom! Get yourself to Winston-Salem No Carolina this spring!

Paul, Love the spirit of o2 madness, from the outside lookin in it is quite ununderstandable, let me ramble, theres a rich lawyer in town, drives a Porsche Boxster, thought he might have been a car guy as we always talk cars at the post. Told him to hike around back through the sno drifts to look at my project car, an original paint Golf o2 in mid build, he told me to put a Supra motor in it and paint it a respectable color, with a straight face no less, cluuuueless!

One of the joys of owning a o2 is the reactions from the public, ya just smile and say Bilsteins are way up on my priority list and the last one I bought had 7 colors of bondo on it at this point, then u jump in fire the beast up and drive the icey streets of Dunsmuir California and imagine the onramp to I-5 is really the Autobahn, run her thru the gears and marvel at 40 year old German engineering.

I salute your love for the BMW and appreciate your words of Love for the F-Bomb!

Halloween a couple years ago. The first person to accept one of my turds (they were tootsie rolls, and the "litter" was Ovaltine) was none other than John Waters. He traded me a Snickers bar for it. Ended up sharing drinks with him the next night, randomly at another bar. Baltimore was a fun place to live!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
