Jenny, sorry to hear about your latest travails; it's good to see that you landed on your feet. Now that Bimmer has Mike Miller and you, they would be wise to try and pick up Mike Self and Rob....

Well this rots.

I bought my first 02 for my first attempt at a full restoration primarily because of what I perceive to be the DIY wrenching ethos of the early BMW crowd. And while I draw most of my information and much inspiration from FAQ, I looked forward to the aforementioned writers in Roundel for yet more information and inspiration.

I hope those writers find another format here on FAQ or somewhere. I love FAQ for the resource it has been but it would be great to see some technical writing minus comments from social retards. A downside to any forum.

Wow - don't think I've ever seen posts by Phil Marx AND Jenny Morgan (especially in the same thread here on the FAQ).

I've run across many older Roundels with Phil's columns.

Jenny's column is another one of my favorites. The recent Isetta wiring and battery terminal/seat cushion ones really made me laugh and appreciate someone else who works on old cars all the time.

Dear Phil Marx & Jenny Morgan,

Your writings are always welcome here. For me it is not just the style and expertise but the simple beauty of a well written thought.

BIMMER is very fortunate. While I can not offer you their pay structure, I am completely willing to buy you both a beir for each post made.

Shall we start a tab?

I felt like a misfit in the CCA 20 years ago. The owners of new BMW's did not seem to want to be around people who had petrified grease under their fingernails and exhaust systems that where 10% Budweiser cans.

76 '02 owned 20 years.....project for the last 13. I should probably be faster than the rust I'm chasing.

There are a few like minded 02 enthusiasts down the road here in the Indy area...and the Hoosier Chapter did a "Vintage BMW" picnic in September. If you are on Facebook, please join the Hoosier BMW group page, we would love to learn more about your project.

I have enjoyed Phil's, Jenny's, Mike's and Rob's contributions for many years. I started going to mye28, not just because I had an e28 but because Phil posted there. I am really sorry that this not only happened to you but to the club. I have been too busy working out of the country since the downturn to go to a single car event in the last 3 years. I sold off all but one of my cars as I have no time for them. Roundel, this site and a few others were my way of checking in and staying abreast of what was going on. Also a good escape from the grind. I got my new Roundel yesterday. What a shame. Thanks to Phil and Jenny and to Rob and Mike. I have enjoyed your writing since the start. Tim Jones

Never thought I would see/say this, but the Roundel has lost relevance to me.

Having just read the latest 'Roundel', I can no longer discern ads from content. It makes me dizzy, and I don't need that (not to mention the ongoing gratuitous odometer photos and pictures of BMWs in the driveway), so I have read my last edition. That's sad coming from a 30+ year CCA member. I will still see you at O'fest - until Big Brother stops me (or it). Kathy

As someone who has been writing for Roundel for nearly 30 years, and who will continue to write every other month, I hate to see so many people saying they're done.

I am not under any marching orders from Satch to never write about vintage cars. I own two '02s and an E9. They will continue to need attention. I will continue to write about them.

Give it a few months?

(This is not an official Roundel statement; it's just me.)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
