I'm still a car fanatic. I will be headed in a different direction with my hobby.

I've been a bimmer owner and BMW CCA club member since 1985. I love cars!

What I appreciated the most about the BMW scene was the friendships and just good people. Times have changed.

I'm a VP for a very large bank and deal with issues all day. My hobby is a place where I build friendships and get a release from all the stress. Tx2002 turned out to be the opposite. BMW LSC (lone star chapter Dallas) another disappointment. Be carful of the members affiliated with TX2002 it's filled with wannabe's and and poser's. I found myself trying to built a local cultur of 02ers, instead it turned out to be a group of people only in it for themselves. Good luck

Honestly it's like that with any auto community, trust me. I've built everything from datsuns, bmw's, hondas, classic toyotas, mazda's, etc. There will always be shitty people, it's part of being on the earth. You don't need a bunch of others to have fun with something you enjoy, however nice it is to share.

Either way, I hope you find a niche that you enjoy the car, the people, and the whole scene for!

I resent that you've tarred every TX2002 Member (as that includes me) with the same brush. Not a smart statement & not what I'd expect from a VP of a very large Bank for sure.

FWIW, good luck with whatever you end up doing.

What would prompt you post such libelous statements about the local 02 community? TX2002 has never been an organized club with leadership. It's a resource (the same as this board and the same as the Facebook pages). I don't know what anyone in the group did to you. Your exit certainly left us scratching our heads.

The rest of us seem to enjoy the banter, the wrenching meetups, the Cars and Coffee gatherings and, of course, DRIVING our old cars!

I'm on tx2002 as well but I figured I'd post here. Anyone got an interesting running project that they are looking to offload? I assumed it'd be easier to post in our texas section!

Hey wizzurp, what kind of 02 are you seeking? Glenn in Whitesboro probably still has some 02s he wants to liberate. He did the last I talked to him. Drop me a message above and I'll give you his contact info (not trying to hoard it, but I don't know if he wants his phone number posted here).

I've been trying to sell his fjord square tail for like two years now. Not that I'm getting a commission or anything, but it's such a solid car that I need to find it another owner before I decide to expand my fleet.

Off the top of my head, I don't know of any other 02s for sale locally, though.

I was hoping for a clean roundie like my last one but I picked up a different project already as I stated. I'm building a turbo miata for road course/autox :) I'll remain on tx2002 just because I like seeing what others are up to and I might want another 02 after I finish this!

I appreciate your help!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
