I called several places with that number and was told NLA! I did another google rearranging my words and it directed me to Bavarian Auto. They apparently are full of 02 Goodness, because they knew the number was replaced by 41356440140 and sent it to me for $110. plus $25 Shipping. Hope this is correct.

I think your original number (101 / 102) is for the rust repair panel (patch) that is not as thick as the correct original outer rocker panel. The only advantage to this piece is that it offers coverage for the quarter panel up to the wheel arch. It's a cosmetic repair only, in most instances. IMHO - the entire front 2/3 of this piece is pure junk. Only the rear quarter panel portion is worth a tinker.

The GOOD NEWS: The part you're being told is it's replacement, is the actual STRUCTURAL outer rocker, and as such- actually needs to be installed BEHIND the leading edge of the rear quarter panel to repair most rust situations. If you lift up the sill plate on your car and look at the upper portion of the rocker, you should see a subtle seam (slight groove), where the original piece fit *behind* the quarter panel. If your body shop knows what they're doing, this should yield a better repair... but they might have to get creative in repairing the portion of the quarter panel they'll cut during installation.

Not sure your BavAuto sales guy shared this with you, but it's good info for others.

Good info. Thanks Paul. The part is an exact mirror of the right side one I have that I had not put in yet. I did remove the right side completely cutting the tack welds and it is a strong piece that fits well! You were right on with the info. I was rather surprised that the guy at BMW of So Atlanta didn't mention this. Thanks to everyone that shares their experience, knowledge, and mistakes.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
