Comin home from the post last night as I got on freeway something was missing, as in power. Still runnin points so I did a qwik & clean tuneup only to find 3 & 4 plugs oil fouled, 1 & 2 perfect. Checked the oil cap and lo a coating of milkshake was present, looks like a 35 year old head gasket failure. Should search this but have two qwestions, best source for the best stock head gasket? OEM or aftermarket Victor Reinz Blunt has? And the truth on head bolts, have always reused with no problems, now I hear not to?

thanks Dave

Checked the oil cap
? Sometimes there can be a slimy, nasty white buildup underneath it- that is just condensation from the car not being able to warm up completely from short driving cycles. That doesn't always necessitate head gasket failure; run some tests. Smell the exhaust. Is it sweet smelling? Are you losing coolant?

Thanks for qwik reply, multiple issues with head, need to replace 2 exhaust studs and valve seals, hoped it would make it til spring but know something popped yesterday, idles like a mad bull and has no power, combined with other evidence would bet a gold dollar its blown, weatherman says 10 days of clear and cold and without a garage I am divin in.
