Guest Anonymous
Yesterday I started to hear some sounds from the left front end (I believe). It sounds like something is snapping back into place. Almost like something spring loaded??? It happens when going over bumps. I pushed down on the left fender and it bounced back fine with no strange noises. My mechanic told me I my left tie rod is worn so I am suspecting this. He also said the lower control arm bushings are worn. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
Guest Anonymous
if you like both front wheels pointing the same way and having them attached to the car in like manner, it'd be best to get it fixed soon. It could be dangerous. Get on it. Good luck, B
Guest Anonymous
Check 'em all by jacking up the front end (place on stands please) and having someone slowly turn the steering while you observe the tie rods for lost motion. On 2002s, the sockets are at the bottom, the ball on top. Thus if the ball itself becomes too worn to stay in its socket, it...falls out! Discovered this to my horror a few years ago when I found the only thing holding the ball in its socket was the disintegrating remains of the rubber dust boot! I keep the rusted ball/stud on my desk as a reminder not to postpone maintenance you know needs to be done. Don't let yours get that bad.
