I also have a set that have been media blasted, awaiting new finish...thoughts of the best order of what to paint/ what to mask first, to make them look just like Scott's reference photos? Silver first and then mastic sheet on front, and spray black from behind for the negative space (inside of mesh)?...and then mask and spray black in hub area?

Any help appreciated...

paint the whole rim silver. let dry completely. apply blue painter's tape to entire front mesh surface. use a drywall blade on which you've ground the knife edge flat to produce sharp corners along the entire cutting edge.

you cut out the spaces by rubbing the edge of the blade against the edge of the masked section. works great and is how the pros do it on aeroengine components. it leaves a sharp crisp masked edge.

btw, those rims are heading to california ;-)
