Left over ground wire after heater box repair

Hi all

(Second time typing this as the sql statements aren't sanitized for single quotes on inserts and it booomed)

Anyway, after doing a heater box repair I'm part way through putting all the parts that had to get out before the box came out and I've got an extra wire.

Its about 2 feet long, very BMW factory looking, ring terminal on one end and female spade connector on the other.

Any idea what it's for?

There was no radio in the car when I picked it up. THere was a bunch of extra wire in the console (non-factory) that I cleaned up. It could have been in there.. Oh yeah 73tii.

Any help would be appreciated

p.s. putting a couple of star washers on the other grounds on the heaterbox helped stabilize the gauges

Yeah, there are usually a few grounds on the heater box studs.

And its just a convenient area for any aftermarket grounding too.
