Yes, sold the big Cibie Oscars and the rear spoiler. Just not my wife's style. LOL

Will go back to Conway to work on the car Friday afternoon. In the meantime, I've sourced the round horn button for the unique steering wheel on the car. Seems as though there was a fire at the factory supplying the large bus type wheels and BMW substituted a smaller wheel without the cutouts in the spokes. I took off a shabby wheel cover to discover a pristine condition leather wrapped wheel without a button on this car.

I've also finished the trunk boards and can install them. Finished in dark blue elephant skin vinyl.

take a bavaria horn button? Damn, I'm just too good to you... lol

Your friend Greg said that the Bavaria button was larger.

I'll bet you didn't know what was under that k-mart wheel wrap. I've never even seen a picture of a wheel like this. The wheel will make up for all the wire cutting done when the engine was removed.

She runs now. Video below and I am a happy camper. Marshall and Jim, the wiring went smoothly. I used the hard line found on '73 carbed 02s and replaced all the fuel lines with new injection hoses. Since I used an intank pump, I had to find a reducer to drop down to the 5/16 hose I used. All is well, no leaks, except at the o rings on top of the K-pump. When I let it run a while, they slowed to almost no leakage, but I'll replace them anyway. Hope to bring it home to do more projects from my garage rather than drive over an hour each way. Many thanks to Danuel...couldn't have done it without his help, and to Chris for the use of his facilities.

Mike;

I have the same wheel in mint condition with leather and all but I don't know how to remove the horn button, believe it or not. Tried to pop it but doesn't work, does it twist?

TIA

The button has three ribbed male connectors. On the back there is a notch to insert a flat tip screwdriver to pry it off.

I didn't keep it. Only saw the car in person when I took those pictures. Are we trying to accuse me of something? If you are state it in the obvious and not the obtuse.

OK grumpy. Ate to much turkey? My assumption was incorrect. I guess Greg Lavelle has the wheel. I was merely pointing out that I no longer had the wheel. You should know me well enough that I would be blunt about something if it bothered me.

    BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

    Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

    History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

    In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

    BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
