How do you know if a 1970 BMW engine is from a 1602 or 2002?

thers a 1.6 (or a " 2 ") stamped next to the motor number by the timing inspection hole,


cast on the exhaust side of the cylinder block under exhaust

ports # 2 and #3 along with the month/year production date

Er, on the head it'll be 118 for a smaller motor, (I think, don't quote me)

or 121, E12 or E21 for the 2L's (this, I'm sure about)
