Starting to tear down the 71 1600 today. Have pulled remainder off the 76 2002. If you have requests, email me. Some of this has gone to fleabay to save me time. I will list items as I pull groups. I will update the thread. If its here, its available.

City of Industry CA for pickup. mudchemist at hotmail dot com.

I check the email throughout the day. I'll reply in order

Off the 1600:

Hood - Pickup only - $15 - Its got surface rust but hasn't gone cancerous. Some bumps to bang out. Better than nothing, better than a rotten hood. Euro signals are gone.

Rear Deck Lid Trunk Lid - Has some bubbles but they are not crumbly. Pretty straight otherwise. Definitely salvageable. Better than nothing, better than swiss cheese. $15 - Pickup only. Chrome and taillights are gone

Rocker Molding $70 for the pair - Pickup only. Straight and free of dings. Some knucklehead painted them black. Where the paint is flaking the chrome is NICE. If they don't sell I'll strip them and raise the price!

Off the 2002

Radiator $60 - The 76 was a solid abandoned project. Look at the fins. This sucker hasn't seen many miles. Prefer local pickup. Open to shipping.

Door glass pieces - best to email me. I pulled EVERYTHING and saved every nut. Glass has a green tinge to it. Rubber on the quarters looks good. They rolled tight. Regulators are great.

Steve - Email sent on cleaner and snorkel

Rob - Euro markers are not available. They were cracked anyway. If you are still dressing up the car I saw, hold out for nicer!

Email button should be working now. City of Industry is in SOCAL.

Email sent to last two posts. I am working on pulling the other emailed requests put in today. Will email all of you back as I get through it.

I can only work on '"stinky" in 30 second increments. I wish this car smelled like old motor oil and gasoline.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
