new rear windshield

So, I want a working rear window defogger/demister grid. After reading of poor luck with the paint on fix, I think I will just go for new. Should I just order from dealer or does anyone know of somewhere else that can supply BMW quality replacements. Thanks, Mike

$237.63 retail from the dealer.... BMW CCA gets you 10% off too...

That is for clear... Not really sure when clear and green glass changed on the cars...

Anyway, buy OEM BMW every chance. Cannot go wrong with the quality or warranty.

And its usually not much more... AND CHECK new vs used parts.

I now check new vs used every single time as I have bought a few dumb used things in the past.

+1 on trying to buy glass from the dealer. No shipping charges and you can inspect it before you take it home.

as only the really early cars (pre mid-71) came with clear glass. And those didn't have heated backlights...they were theoretically available (on the option list) from 1968 on, but I've only seen one US spec car with a clear, heated backlight.

I tried to order that option on my '69 when I bought it, but was told "they're not available yet." I finally found one 20 years later on a Euro spec 1600 parts car and installed it on my '69.

cheers

Thank you Mike, I was wondering if this one was officially "green" I thought so, but at these prices I don't want to order the wrong one. But I am also tired of the cloudy rear window. I appreciate your input.

If you were in the Seattle area I would sell ya one cheap... That I know of it works.... Pilkington is also a great choice for glass. It's the same company that makes the BMW stuff I believe.
