New to the site, just got a new 73 Tii and I want to change all fluids immediatly to get a baseline.

Question: what type of diff fluid and transmission fluid should I use? viscosity? Brand? Smell? Color? Texture? Taste?

Thanks

Smell?

The good stuff smells a bit like Sex Panther (or rich mahogany).

Welcome to 2002's. As Marshall point out, much can be found with proper use of the search function. Good idea to change the fluids, check the steering box why your at it.

Differential oil should have the flavor and consistency of rocky road ice cream. Manual transmission fluid should have the flavor and consistency of melted caramel.

Seriously, Redline 75W90 for the differential and Redline MTL for the transmission.
