Decent shop in Houston

I trust my cars (1974 2002tii and a 1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow) to Pete Smirnis - European Autoworks, 5620 Schumacher Lane, Houston 77057 ph: 713-529-5306. His shop is just west of Chimney Rock a few blocks north of Hwy 59. Not the cheapest mechanic, but he knows what he's doing.

Howdy

I have had my 02 in maintenance with Bavarian Machine Specialists.

They do a great job and have the expertise.

Good luck

Glad to hear the good review of BMS. I wasn't sure how the shop was doing since Mike passed away.

I do wish there was a good vintage mechanic out in west Houston somewhere.

Have to retract the recommendation from BMS.

Called last week to make an appointment and the new receptionist told me they are facing out the 02's and 3.0's

When I asked why she said too much trouble to find parts and they take too much time. She added it was Mike's things thise old 'cars' and they are now moving on to later models?

It is a pity, they do not even take them for an technical inspection or an oil change. Kind of sad they no longer support the vintage BMW customers. i guess it is their business.

Has anyone here had experience with Munich Motorwerke on Fountain View?  I drive by everyday to and from work and always see three E9's parked out front, various E30s (M3 included) and recently a yellow Pantera.  I dropped by today to ask if they work on 02s and they said they did.  I may try them out on my A/C.

Also, I work across the ally way from Todays European Cars on Richmond and had Tony (the owner who worked on 02s back in the 80s) do my clutch.  Super nice guy and fair pricing.  Watch out for his handshake though, it's a killer.

I can - I've taken my cars there for the last few years.  Its a small shop but specializes in BMW's - and has a loyal 2002 following.  The owner is Lewis Allen and the only way people seem to find out about him is by referal.  He is very practical and personable.  Good luck.
