A relay is a relay???

I have a relay from DEI (alarm and central locking) which is wired into a starter kill switch. I think the relay is dead. Can I replace the relay with any relay which has the same prong arrangement? It has the same 30/85/86/87/87A contacts I've seen in other relays. Thanks for any advice!

Roger, thanks for the URLs. I've got some old relays lyng around. Faster to test by replacement but don't know if I have to worry about some proprietary unknown in the DEI relay.

As long as the values are the same (85, 85a etc... and the prongs are in the same location, you are golden.
