transmission issue

Trans won't go into 2nd or 4th. R 1 and 3 are all good. Does this sound like an internal trans issue? Does anyone know where I can get a 4 speed in CO?

Does it feel like your shift tower is loose? Play front-to-back in the shifter?

I don't really think it's a gearbox issue... yet.

the shift tower is tight. I was at the track last weekend and the guibo flew apart on me. now I can't use 2nd and 4th.

this has occurred on a few

occasions to my customers. the

guibo breaks and then the spring

that encloses the shifter connection at

the trans moves. this allows the pin in

the connection to move up and this keeps

the shifter from moving forward into 2nd &

4th gears. put the car up on some jack stands

and feel above the connection to check for

and obstruction that hits the front edge

of the shift tower, or the back portion of

the trans housing at the shifter shaft.

also check the shift shaft for damage.

it is also just possible that the spring which

is just a round cylinder clip is loose on the

shifter shaft and blocking the movement.

post your results.

good luck
