what do you want to know. When to know if it needs to be cut, how to measure, how much clearence. Do you know how hard that is.

If you expect to build a race engine good for 8000rpm runs, you'll probably be disappointed. If you're trying to squeeze another 50k of gentle street use out of a reasonably well cared for motor, then it'll probably be OK.

Do yourself a favor, buy a good book about rebuilding motors--not just a Haynes manual, but one of those 'Engine Builder's Handbooks' you can find at Borders. When you tear down your motor, you will clean everything, then inspect and measure the crank to see if you can get away with throwing in some new stock bearings. This doesn't require a lot of equipment, just good sense, attention to detail, a micrometer, and some plastigage strips.

seen people get rebuilds started many times, and never finish them so is tricky. With some books and the right answer you can do it.

rod bearings...... change em.. but while you are there you might as well do the lot...

the limiting factor in the longevity of an m10 motor is not the bottom end. the head commonly cracks along between the chamber and the exhaust valve guide long before there is significant wear on bottom end clearances...

if done properly without too much valve overlap on cam you can expect 150 000 miles from a good rebuild using more or less new everything down below.
