Holes for rear bumper

Replacing the longer rear bumper on my '72 2002 with an early shorter one, I'm at a loss to figure out where to drill the bolt hole--bumper bracket to rear quarter sheet metal. In the past, I read somebody's suggestion but now can't find it on Site Search. HELP!

Thanks.

I actually had a buddy assist me by holding the bumper (carefully, using rags to protect the paint) while I used a sharpie to mark the new location. I then measured to be sure the holes were at the same height and at the same distance from the originals and went for it. Worked well for me.

IF you can get the bumper ends to stay straight, e.g. ends parallel with rest of bumper, leave off the bolts that hold it to the side. if you ever get lighly tagged from the rear, the bumper may be toast but leaving off the side bolt may save some ugly body damage. same for front
