Need to Find Air Conditioner Grommets

I'm no help because I'm probably looking for the same thing! Are you referring to the 8 stepped rubber bushings that isolate the compressor mount from the compressor? Each of the 4 mounting bolts carries 2 bushings, sandwiched together.

If so, I've searched the web and my local hardware stores and found nothing. The closest I've come thus far is a plan to build my own by epoxying lots of thin rubber washers together. Very tedious, and of dubious durability!

Let me know if we're looking for the same item and, if so, if you find them somewhere. I similarly will post here if I find them.

Regards,

Steve

Steve,

If you are talking Behr have you checked the Behr parts list pdf off the Tii register? http://2002tii.org/kb/category/airconditioning

Not sure the exact part you mean but the manual lists a rubber spacer (8) with a BMW part number of 84 02 0200 017 (please double check all of this). Tischer says this is superceded by 84 00 0419 135 and lists for $4-$5 ea.

Not sure if any of this is current (and correct) but another avenue to check

hope this helps

John,

Thank you! They're ordered! I started with my copy of the Behr A/C Parts List (for posterity, Behr A/C and early, pre-rotary-compressor, Clardy A/C used identical York compressors and mounts) but no one has previously moved me beyond the original BMW part number, which shows up as either NLA or "part number not found," depending on who was looking it up!

And Tischer even provides a discount off list price. This was a win!

Greatly appreciated,

Steve

EDIT: Not a win. After many promises and well over a year, NLA!

Steve.

Make sure you double checked my numbers/logic and that it was the right part before you put money in.

John,

My best alternative is gluing up 6 rubber washers to re-create each of the 8 original shouldered bushings. So at $4.00 each for these guys, I'm willing to take some risks!

Thanks and regards,

Steve

Just out of curiosity, let me know what you find out

John,

The grommets remain backordered by the dealer. They've not yet been declared NLA so I'm waiting patiently! I will post when they either arrive or, definitively, don't arrive.

Regards,

Steve

Steve,

I pulled the compressor mounting plate off my engine earlier this year and may have the bushings you are looking for. Will check when I get home and will let you know.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
