I've just spotted an oil leak from the exhaust manifold stud on my E12 head (#2 cylinder, top). I'm afraid to look. Could this be something other than a cracked head?

some of the exhaust manifold studs bolt into open oil passages - i do not recall precisely if the top #2 does or not - take it out and put a decent sealant on the threads and reinstall (i have always used a generic SealsALL with good luck) - hopefully this will cure the leak

valve train area....when all the valve train is taken out....you can see right through....

Just put a good sealant in there and you'll be all set...also make sure that the studs have enough thread in the head inself....some of them have a "threadless: area along the length of the stud......I think its the shorter threaded length that gets put into the head, and the longer length goes into the manifold...

Hope this helps
