I have been in the market for another 02 for about 1 year now. Prices have seemed to double since '06 for a nice clean '02. I stumbled upon this guy http://www.roadfly.com/bmw/classifieds/cars/detview.php?view=46581&sortby=&dir=

price was kinda high and I was scared of the carbs. After talking to the owner for about 1 month after my initial test drive I decided to take to it Randy @ Black Forest BMW here in Costa Mesa. He has worked on a few of my bimmers and my '73tii clone. Boy am I glad I paid for the PPI. I was about to shell a good chunk of change for what Randy claimed to be "one big headache of a car" I'm sure it would make a nice car for someone just not me so time to keep looking..

Anyone here have a nice clean roundie that they are getting bored of or just need to move on to something I would be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Good morning, Similar story here--- I looked with some seriousness back in 2007 (and much more seriously this year). You're absolutely right, what was a very nice car in 2007 for $8,000 is now a $12,500 car (or, if it's on eBay, the BIN is $18,000 or 19,900.)

Can I ask where you're looking to see if there are any places that I missed?

-- Here -- obviously -- likely the best place to find a 2002

-- eBay; cars.com; autotrader classics

-- crazedlist -- has been shut down; I haven't found a replacement I like

-- 2002ad in California -- some quite nice cars are on their page but recent seller-feedback on these boards hasn't been 100% positive unfortunately.

-- Beyond 2 in Burlingame, Cal. -- not many recent listings

-- bimmerforums -- very few 2002s come up here

-- e9coupe; s14.net -- hardly any 2002s come up here

-- Roadfly -- seems to have many dead listings

Just checking. I'm in what seems like an endless & unavailing search for the right 2002 or E28. (For me, the ideal case is a '73tii and an '88 535is, but I'm not too specific.)

I'm at the point where I'm thinking of calling up independent BMW mechanics in various BMW havens around the country and leaving my name and number for them to pin on the wall. I don't know if that would help, or if they'd just laugh and hang up on me.

There were a couple of great cars that have come available the last couple of months that I missed out on. Have you found anything close to your liking? Or is your taste really specific ("I gotta have a '69 golf-yellow automatic with black & tan two-tone uncut door cards and the original California blue plate.")? I'm not that bad, but I do have my preferences ;-)

Last fun car: '98 Volvo V70R AWD

Next fun car, and occupation: Looking for the right BMW 2002 or e28

I’ve been looking at all those too but Im trying to stay local so I can see the car in person. Im looking for roundie but if it’s clean and pre-smog I’d be okay with square tail lights too if the price was right. I just dont want a big project/money pit just a nice driver would do me just fine. I recently dumped a whole lot of money into my last project only to trun around and sell it for half of my investment so right now I just want a driveable clean ’02 I can enjoy for a few years.

My mechanic Randy has a super clean ’74 tii on consignment at his shop if you’re interested. It drove like new and he has done all the work on it so it’s a solid car. It has a newer BMW grey color I dont know the original color. Shortened front and rear bumpers and a few more things. Only thing the owner was asking $15k Randy told me it was quite negotiable I just was’nt into it though.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
