all the neat things that I can make for your patio... Here is one way to justify one, but you may get more than what you bargain for - this and other welding projects has kept me away from 02's for several weekends!. I change my mind: DO NOT tell your wife the powers of a MIG welder!

I bought a Lincoln 170 plus with mig when I was into DIY custom. This summer I am building an iron fence around our property to replace the wooden plank fence that has fallen down. My wife's brother works at a steel mfg plant to boot, between materials and labor ( building a jig to make 8 ft sections at a time ) it won't costs squat.

My wife balked at the high cost of the rig 7 years ago, now she is smiling smugly when she realizes that a 5ft iron fence would cost TEN TIMES that.

I am interested in this as I cannot afford the 200 volt service here in Japan. I am coming back to the states and I will probably bring a welder with me to Japan.

have been quite satisfied with it. Welded some steel "trees" to old cast iron brake rotors (to use as a base) for my wife and it did great--much easier than with a torch. Bought it at Quality Farm & Fleet (now Tractor Supply) for about $400. It's a 95/105 amp unit (depends on whether you're using it on a 15 or 20 amp circuit). For sheet metal you won't be using much amperage.

Cheers

....My Century 110 won't weld anymore and it's just four years old. I have a friend with a Lincoln who loves his. He said he had another friend who had a Century just like mine and it died too. Lincolns are widely available and proven.

...if you find a good deal on that or lincoln-pick the least expensive. Either way you can't go wrong.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
