So, what is this tii worth to you?

I started out thinking that I wanted to point out everything that is wrong with this car because the seller is asking a ridiculous $26,000 for it. While the price alone is easy fodder for ridicule, I can't help but mention that this car would be a nice starting point for anyone looking to drive and restore a good tii. It seems to be mostly rust-free, documentation seems to be provided, it looks mostly original and seems complete.

So, disregarding the price and the seller's flimsy grip on grammar, what do you think this car is realistically worth?

depending on what you want to do with it two things that i would strongly consider before making any decision on it.

1. how many fjord tii's were made for that year (bmw should be able to tell you that one).

2. I'd have a talk w/Paul W about the f'bomb and what it took/takes him to get and keep the f-bomb on the road. Paul is A GREAT guy who i'm certain would share what he knows.

for a ball park, I agree w/what everyone else said and brought up.

5-6k tops.

Good luck!

I'd be at 9-10K, based on late April early June '73 production, on pictures alone, without reading the description and no undercarriage photos. It looks complete and 100% serviceable. All be it tired.

Paul's F'Bomb looked like a total mess in comparison, this one's ready for Pebble Beach' as is.

Glad I have mine, every day.

It originally was listed at $12,000, which I thought was $7,000 to $5,000 above market. When the seller, obviously, failed to get $12,000, he/she raised the price to $16,000. And when the seller, obviously, failed to get $16,000, he/she raised the price to the present $26,000!

My first reaction was that it was an exceptional example for a very original restoration. But looking at the snorkel nosepiece (as has been noted), the seat covers which may be too brittle to save, the cracked dashboard, disgustingly dirty carpets, and the general filth, I concluded this car has spent many years out in the elements and had precious little care and service. In short, a lot of those "original" features must be replaced unless you're happy to drive around with divots in your seats.

And, indeed, there is nothing wrong with that approach. But I believe the ultimate buyer of this car -- and it's obviously not selling quickly, and likely never, at $26,000 -- will be someone who wants to restore it to its original appearance. Given that, I could see someone saying, "Look, I'm going to spend $30,000 to $70,000 doing a ground-up restoration, what's a few more thousand on the front end to get a low mileage (?) and unmolested (?) example? Here's $10,000 for your car!"

(A sunroof would really help its sale-ability, but might also increase the chances for rust!)

Why don't you post photos of that red turd you have, and let's see how many negative comments it receives. You are a real Ass-Wipe! Why don't you buy a pristine 02, then maybe it will qualify you to give an opinion. If you can't afford a real nice 02, keep your f*%king mouth shut, bitch! Just my 02 cents worth...

That is a whole lot of hostility and under an assumed name. Relax, your life will be much better.

Seems like all the trash-talkers are anonymous. Why the hate?

Anyway, because it seems that you didn't read the original post, my only problem with this car is it's $26K price tag. As I stated earlier, I like this car and I think that it would be a good option to start with, just not for $26K. So, the question became; "If it's not worth $26K, how much is it worth realistically?"

Sidenote, why do you have to have a nice/expensive car to comment on other cars? I'm not trying to sell my car for an obscene amount of money (or at all, really), so there's no conflict here.

Thanks for the opinion, though.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
