Guest Anonymous
I plan to prep my 2002 for paint this summer and I figure it would be a good time to polish all the exterior aluminum trim. Any suggested products or methods?
Guest Anonymous
to keep it polished looking, you'll have to keep polishing it, or wax it every so often, or re-clear coat it. Pers. Guest Anonymous
...and the surface layer is very hard. You can't really polish it, but cleaning it can make it look quite a bit better. You can remove the anodized layer with a significant effort by wet sanding, but this is a pointless exercise. Exposing the soft aluminum underneath means that you will have to continuously polish and clean the trim. Chris B. '73 ex-Malaga
Guest Anonymous
..at least the way that is recommended for Porsche Fuchs wheels (the classic "star" pattern ones) is to coat with vaseline and leave it for a while, then buff off. Try it - the only downside is having your wife/girlfriend/mother look at you strangely for taking vaseline into the garage!
