So the wife tell informs me that we are moving to Dallas because of the Southwest takeover. Been in Georgia all my life with a stint for school in Tuscaloosa. Just want to know where to rent/live, basically run down of need to know things when I get to Dallas.

Welcome! Texas isn't that different than Georgia. It's drier here, we talk a little differently, our tea isn't usually sweetened (unless you are in East Texas), we don't have a lot of trees (unless you are within spitting distance of Louisiana) and our BBQ is way better. Actually, I guess it's really different!

If schools don't matter to you, you'll find plenty of nice areas within easy driving distance of Love. If you look on a map, use Lemmon Avenue as a guide. Pretty much anything north and east of Lemmon, north of I-30 and inside of 635 is decent (some pockets of not so great also exist). You can spend between $225,000 and Mark Cuban level.

If schools are important, look for something in Richardson, Plano or Frisco districts... your commute will be longer, though.

We have a decent 02 community here... probably 20-30 "active" owners. Sign up for the TX2002 Yahoo group and introduce yourself.

Welcome! pwagon I go by plopswagon but I never ever post her just lurk and dream of the day when I find my dream roundie.

Dallas is a big city with a lot of different areas for a lot of different folks. North End is mostly suburban, Plano, Richardson, Frisco as mentioned above. Nice, safe cities but a little too bland for my taste (I grew up in Richardson). I live in Oak Cliff which has the stereotype of being the ghetto (pitbulls welcome) but it's a fast growing area of old houses and a great art scene and strong community vibe. The area closest to Love Field is Uptown it's more of a young no kids apartment living area. Lots of bars and pubs. Downtown is going through a bit of a Renaissance right now too. Highrise living. I would suggesting renting in Uptown and getting a feel for Dallas and then figure out where you want to be.

Good luck

and if anyone has an unrestored roundie to sell me lemme know!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
